Under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, the prescribed time limit to file an MACT claim is 6 months from the date of the accident. However, courts regularly condone delay if you can show sufficient cause. That said, filing early is strongly advisable — evidence becomes harder to obtain over time, witnesses become unavailable, and insurance companies use delay against you.
